Ted Perkins Biography

Ted Perkins is a film and TV producer & distributor based in Los Angeles, California. He is a former executive at two major studios, including Warner Bros., and his most recent post as Head of International Distribution & Co-Productions of Universal Pictures.

He has been a film marketing and distribution executive at Senator (now Mandate) Films and Vision International, and is an expert in international film financing and distribution, TV sales and syndication, business planning, U.S. theatrical marketing – and had DVD output deals with both Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Universal / Vivendi Visual Entertainment.

Perkins, the son of a Foreign Service officer, has lived and worked in over 40 countries.

Ted Perkins film credits include:

  • Warner Bros – Managed international licensing and merchandising campaigns for 9 local O&O’s and 30 licensees for BATMAN RETURNS which grossed over $300 million.
  • Vision/MDP – Pre-sold, sold and licensed JOHNNY MNEUMONIC, JUNGLE BOOK, THE QUEST, CYBORG 2, etc.
  • Universal – Directed international marketing and theatrical release campaigns worldwide on JURASSIC PARK 2, WATERWORLD, NUTTY PROFESSOR, TWISTER, BABE, etc.
  • Universal – Co-Productions – TEA WITH MUSSOLINI (Medusa Films / MGM); one of MGM’s most successful US releases in 1998/99; PAVILION OF WOMEN (Willem Dafoe) – first co-production with mainland China in Hollywood history; original executive on ART OF WAR (Wesley Snipes), THE EDGE (Oscar winner Jim Sheridan), among many others.
  • Senator Film / Mandate Pictures – Pre-sold millions of dollars of bankable paper for HAROLD & KUMAR GO TO WHITE CASTLE, BOOGEYMAN, etc.
  • Production Work : SNOWFLOWER & THE SECRET FAN directed by Wayne Wang (AssociateProducer), RED RIVER (Producer), HUTONG DAYS (Producer) TURNING POINT 1977 (Producer), NOTHING LIKE THE HOLIDAYS (Writer) – released on 2,000 screens December 2008, MISCONCEPTIONS, Executive Producer (Regent Releasing; theatrical release Jan 2010).
